WPIC's office opening ceremony in Hangzhou
WPIC’s office opening ceremony in Hangzhou

WPIC Marketing + Technologies, the world’s leading APAC e-commerce consultancy, has opened its new office in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. The new facility will enable WPIC to leverage Hangzhou’s world-leading technology talent and infrastructure to deliver e-commerce services for clients.

“Although we are a technology company, we are a people-focused company. And we believe that the individuals who live and work in the Hangzhou Metropolitan Area are some of the most talented individuals throughout China,” said Jacob Cooke, CEO and Co-founder of WPIC, in his speech at the opening ceremony. “Not only has Hangzhou been repeatedly rated as the top commercial city in China, but there is perhaps no better city in China for high quality IT-focused talent.”

Hangzhou is one of China’s major e-commerce hubs, in large part due to its top notch universities and the work of Alibaba, which is headquartered in the city. Over the past ten-plus years, WPIC has developed a close relationship with Alibaba, earning a 5-star Tmall partner rating for helping leading overseas companies establish, operate, and optimize their presence on Alibaba’s e-commerce platforms. The new office will allow WPIC to foster a closer relationship with Alibaba and other partner organizations, while also capitalizing on the region’s leading information technology (IT) talent and infrastructure to further expand WPIC’s capabilities.

The opening of the Hangzhou office is also an important landmark in the growth of WPIC, as it will mark the company’s fourth site in Mainland China. After opening its first office in Beijing, WPIC expanded to Nanjing over the last three years by opening an e-commerce hub, followed by a state-of-the-art warehousing and logistics facility. The Hangzhou office will accommodate over 100 additional employees that will focus on e-commerce as well as advertising, design, and brand strategy services.

“Those three existing sites split between two cities have been crucial for our organization over the past year, as we’ve on-boarded new clients, grown our end-to-end solution set, and perhaps most importantly weathered the economic effects of the global COVID-19 pandemic,” said Mr. Cooke. “The time has come for our organization to expand even further beyond those three sites, and we felt confident that Hangzhou is the right place for us to invest.”

The opening ceremony featured representatives from the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Hangzhou Committee, which welcomed WPIC’s investment that aims to bring over 100 new jobs to the region. Guests from the Canadian Trade Office in Hangzhou, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai (CanCham Shanghai), and employees from WPIC’s Beijing and Nanjing offices were also in attendance.

“Congratulations to WPIC on their Hangzhou office opening, a major milestone in their impressive expansion in operations over the past year,” said Matt Whately, Executive Director of CanCham Shanghai.
